What is "organic"?
Before we explain what exactly organic wine is, we first explain briefly what organic actually is. Organic is much more than just a quality mark, because the term organic is legally protected. To be able to call your product biological, the procedure must meet the legal requirements. This is in contrast to Fair-Trade or sustainable, these are more marketing terms without hard requirements.
The independent body skal checks every biological product in, among others, the Netherlands, organic wines are checked twice before the wine can be called biological.
Biological wine
Now that we know a little more about the term biological, we are now talking about organic wine. Organic wines are made with a lot of attention and love for nature, without fertilizer and without chemical pesticides. Together with our winemaker, we are convinced that the love we give to nature can be reflected in our wine.
- Less sulphite
Compared to ordinary wine, around 35-50 grams less sulphite is used for organic wines. In our cheeky sauvignon ... gram sulfite is used and with the cheerful merlot ... gram, really a bit less right?!
- No chemicals
Organic wines are made exclusively from organic grapes. Our winegrower therefore does not use fertilizer or chemicals but only organic preparations. These preparations consist of organic manure (excrement of animals and remains of plants). This is used to make the grape vines stronger so that they can keep themselves out of diseases. This makes the process of Biologcieh wine much more miliu friendly!
How else do you recognize an organic wine?
You can recognize an organic wine by the green quality mark in the bottle, in fact, it is mandatory for an organic wine. There are two times when it is checked whether the particular wine may carry this quality mark. During the purchase of the grape, whereby it is checked whether all the conditions of organic viticulture are met and during the bottling. If both moments are approved, the wine in question may get this quality mark.
